Nursery decorating can be exciting but challenging
Taking on the job of decorating a nursery for that new baby,
while exciting, can also be a monumental challenge - even knowing where
to start often seems overwhelming. So, before rushing out and choosing
that favorite wallpaper border, consider the following tips:
1. Consider your budget.
First list the items you want, then compare them with what you can
afford. In reality the only item you really need is a crib. Everything
else is optional. A rocking chair and changing table may help to make
life easier but they are not a necessity. If you can afford them then
go ahead - splurge. But don’t fret if your bank account doesn’t warrant
the latest names and designs in baby trends. With a little creativity
and imagination you can still create a beautiful retreat for you and
your baby.
2. Choose the tone.
The type of ambience you want for your nursery will depend largely on
the patterns and colors you choose for the room. Softer hues and shapes
will create a soothing and relaxing tone. For a more stimulating
effect, try brighter and bolder. The choice is entirely personal.
3. Themes
Many parents choose to design their nursery around a specific theme
such as a beloved nursery rhyme, a favorite motif or a popular Disney
movie. First start by looking at the bedding available on the market.
From there it won’t be difficult to find the rest of what you need,
including accessories, wallpaper and paint, to unify your chosen theme.
5. Other Considerations.
Other considerations to look at include, what room to use for the
nursery, how to arrange the furniture for maximum safety and
convenience and whether the room will eventually be converted into a
toddler room.
Overall, spend time mapping out your project. In the end having a game
plan will help make the experience of designing your baby’s room more
enjoyable and less stressful.
